Pastor Ben Hentschke is excited about having “Open Arms”. This is the proposed name for the child care centre in Birdwood which will be re-opened after the congregation at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Birdwood recently resolved to support the re-establishment of the centre in a venture together with the local community.
Ben said “I’m looking forward to being able to work with the child care centre to serve those in the community. Being able to offer high quality care in an accredited centre to all those around us, and making it a part of our faith community’s ministry has been my aim.”
With an expected opening date of January 31st, 2011, the steering committee are now seeking the support of the community and are asking those who wish to reserve a place on the centre’s waiting list to contact them. “Families can either call us direct or go to our website and indicate their interest there, and we will call them back. Either way, families will be able to talk to us personally about the needs for their children, and we can discuss what options may be available to them,” said Tamara Zilm, a committee member.
It is planned to have an open day early next year, so that families can view the centre and meet those who will be helping run it.
